This has the flavor of a tall tale that grew a bit in the telling, but who can say for certain?  Such are the delights of collecting oral history a couple generations after the fact!

Little introduces the section thus: “MOOSE were often found in the early times before the Revolution.”  Therefore, I’m placing this in the early 1770s.
