Colby seems to recognize the immensity of what he’s seeing… Just the year before, we was pitching hay on a back field in the hills of Henniker, and now he’s marching through history.
Note the unfinished capitol dome at the heart of Washington; this wartime construction project fascinates me! I’ve based this view on Waud’s August 1862 sketch:
