That one line taught me so much about Pring’s expedition: “And when we would be rid of the Savages company wee would let loose the Mastives…”   It seemed funny at first, but given the centuries to come it’s a rather chilling indicator of attitudes.  Watch what happens as the Brits’ stay on this coast lengthens….
