Martin Pring details the first European business trip to the New Hampshire seacoast, in 1603.

SOURCE: The Voyage of Martin Pring, 1603 as archived at the Wisconsin Historical Society. Although Pring’s locations are a bit hard to nail down, the editor of the above transcription supposes the “FOUR INLETS” are the Saco, Kennebunk, York, and Piscataqua Rivers.
Pring’s (cartoon) ship is based on 16th century designs of English ships such as Great Harry and Mary Rose.
