Now here’s something interesting we couldn’t help but notice about the John W. GunnisonΒ roadside historical marker in Goshen:

Next to the marker stand a few good-sized stone monuments listing Goshen’s veterans from all wars fought by the United States. Β The plaques are decorated with martial ornaments:

… and looking closely, youΒ mightΒ notice an unusual listing of a war:

We’d never seen “The Development of the West” listed as an actual official WAR before! Β But considering the fate of hometown hero Capt. John W. Gunnison, the town of Goshen seems to consider it so…
